Bhubaneswar: A day after the surrender of one of the abductors of the then Malkangiri collector R Vineel Krishna, Odisha police said it is planning to bring the woman Maoist on remand for interrogation.

Police will move court seeking her remand, DGP KB Singh said.

The woman rebel - Korra Gasi (27) alias Jhansi of Koyyuru area in Visakhapatnam agency - involved in the abduction of the IAS officer, surrendered before superintendent of police in Visakhapatnam on Thursday along with two others.

She was carrying a Rs 4 lakh cash reward on her head. The reward amount will be given to her, the SP said.

As many as 24 cases are pending against her in different police stations in Odisha, Andhra and Chhatisgarh.

The two others who surrendered with her are Maoist militia members Buturi Appa Rao (45) and Velusuri Lakshmaiah (30).

Talking to the media, Jhansi said that she has been suffering from various ailments for quite some time but the Maoist leadership did not allow her to go to the city for treatment. “Vexed with the unyielding nature of the leaders, I decided to surrender,” she said.
