Bhubaneswar: Hours after her meeting with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at his residence, Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) spokesperson Sulochana Das resigned from the party today. She informed about her resignation through her twitter account. "I have resigned from Congress party".

She met BJD supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik fuelling speculation of joining the ruling party soon.

Das said she decided to quit the party due to intra-party squabble over leadership. She has not  officially tendered her resignation to the party chief. The Congress spokesperson may join BJD tomorrow, reports said.

"I'm not interested to join communal forces. If I join BJD tomorrow, I will inform the media," she said.

Earlier, district presidents of Congress including Dhenkanal, Angul and Nayagarh along with some former MLAs and PCC office bearers resigned while former Congress legislator Dusmant Naik declared his intention of quitting Congress.
