Bhawanipatna: Seeking to target the BJD government in the State for its alleged failures. Odisha Congress will observe June 10 as ‘Dhikkar Dibas’.

Talking to media persons after a party rally here, PCC chief Prasad Harichandan said, “On June 10, the State Congress will observe ‘Dhikkar Dibas’ during which the party will raise the failures and corruption of the BJD government across the State.”

As part of the programme, Congress activists will gherao block offices and district headquarters as a mark of protest.

Addressing the party rally, AICC secretary Bhaktacharan Das said, “When people of Kalahandi are electing their (BJD) MPs and MLAs, why cannot they see the miseries of the people of the district? While 35 kg of subsidised rice was being provided to every poor family during the UPA government, the quantity has been slashed by the NDA government.”

BJD spokesperson Dibyashankar Mishra pooh-poohed the Congress charge saying, “The State Congress has become directionless. They are trying to repeat the issues we have raised several times.”

Declining to give importance to the Congress’ allegations, Samir Mohanty, vice president of State BJP, said, “The Congress is holding progarmmes in the State to reestablish its position. We do not have much to say on it; people will decide on it.”

At Bhawanipatna, the Kalahandi District Congress was holding a party rally demanding fulfillment of its eight-point charter of demands.
