Bhubaneswar: The Director General of Police (DGP) K.B. Singh on Tuesday asserted that the security forces are on high alert along the Odisha-Chhattisgarh border to prevent the influx of Maoist cadres in Odisha.
An elite anti-Maoist Special Operation Group (SOG), District Voluntary Force (DVF) and jawans of the CRPF and the BSF have been deployed by the Odisha police to maintain a strict vigil on the movement of people in the adjoining areas.
According to sources, red rebels have reportedly sneaked into Malkangiri with the Chhattisgarh government intensifying the combing operation following the April 24 carnage where at least 25 CRPF personnel were killed in a Maoist ambush in Burkapal forest at Sukma.
When asked about the suspected infiltration by Maoists into Odisha, Singh said, “As part of precautionary measures, we have sealed the Odisha-Chhattisgarh border and trying to prevent infiltration of the Maoist cadres inside Odisha. We have intensified our combing operations and even the source-based combing is being carried out.”

Meanwhile, security forces recovered eight powerful tiffin bombs during combing operations in the Kuruba forest region in Malkangiri district. An IAF helicopter, Pawan Hans has also been stationed at the Ud3JaN camp to expedite the ongoing anti-Maoist operation, sources said.
