Bhubaneswar: Intensifying its attack on BJD, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today accused the Naveen Patnaik government of having failed on all fronts and claimed that development is not possible under the incumbent government in Odisha.
Addressing a mass gathering in Bargarh district during his visit to attend BJP’s ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’ programme, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said development in Odisha is impossible under BJD regime.
"Modi government has rendered all possible financial assistance for the development of Odisha. Huge funds have been pumped in to Odisha from Centre apart from Rs 400 crore per month towards Re 1 per kg rice scheme. However, the State is still lagging in development,” the CM alleged.
Dubbing the state government as insensitive towards issues affecting the masses, Chouhan said healthcare services have collapsed in the absence of adequate doctors and proper infrastructure in most government run hospitals in Odisha. With the initiative of the BJP government, five medical colleges will soon be set up in the State, he added.

Without naming previous Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, he said, "Earlier, a prime minister was mute. Now, we have a prime minister who works day and night for the development of the country."
State Congress president Prasad Harichandan said that Manmohan Singh used to work silently without "making tall talks" as is being done by the present prime minister.
"Manmohan Singh believed in work and not in speech unlike Narendra Modi. The economy of the country grew up during his tenure as Prime Minister and foundation of several projects were laid during his time. Now, Modi is inaugurating these”, Harichandan said.
However, Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare minister Surya Narayan Patro threw Chouhan's statements to wind and tagged those as 'unfortunate'. “He should concentrate on his own state where his government is killing farmers rather than getting into what Odisha is doing.”
