Bhubaneswar: In yet another achievement by an Odia at the national level, Odisha-born IPS officer Loknath Behera was appointed Director General of Police (DGP) of Kerala on Tuesday.

Behera, a Kerala cadre IPS, was earlier working as DG (Prisons) in the southern Indian state.

Prior to this, Behera, who had worked in the CBI and the NIA in the past, was the Commandant General of Fire and Rescue Services.

Behera, a native of Puri, had also received the President’s award for his exemplary service while he was holding the post of Inspector General (Operation) of NIA.

He has held the posts of SP and DIG of CBI during his illustrious career.

Notably, the new CPI(M) led LDF government made a major reshuffle in Kerala police yesterday appointing Behera in place of T.P Senkumar.
