Bhubaneswar: Odisha BJP Yuva Morcha is all set to stage protest today against the collection of percentage commission (PC) at various levels in State in different welfare programmes.

The party alleged that the practice exposed the corrupt nature of the ruling party and demanded the amount collected during 17 years of BJD rule be returned to the State exchequer.

“The MLAs and ministers were accepting commission for which ruling party’s image was tarnished. So, the CM asked them to stop the illegal practice. They (BJD) accepted that they have looted the State for 17 years”, BJP vice-president Pratap Chandra Sarangi said.

The saffron party has released an audio to expose such exercise of the government and aware people about it.

BJD rubbished the allegations of the saffron party. “BJP has possessed huge black money which is being used in such rallies. Our CM has been fighting corruption from the beginning. BJP should support the initiative of CM to stop corruption rather than staging protest in a mere political interest”, BJD spokesperson Dibyashankar Mishra said.

“Why BJP remained silent on the matter for last several years?” he asked.

Earlier at Collectors’ conference, CM Naveen Patnaik had instructed all Collectors to stop collection of commission at block levels, which triggered political slugfest in the state.
