Bhubaneswar: In protest of the hike in electricity tariff Odisha President of BJP Yuva Morcha (BJPYM), Tankadhar Tripathy, in a Press Meet in Sundargarh yesterday, slammed the government for hiking the price instead of finding ways to produce more electricity.

Addressing media persons he said that there are many chances of producing electricity by traditional and non-traditional methods in the State. But the government instead of trying these methods is burdening the customers with the hike in prices.

Tripathy added, “The government is continuing to oppress the poor people and the announcement has resented the people of Odisha.”

He also informed that the BJPYM will agitate in all districts of the State today against the power tariff hike.

Notably, the Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC) had yesterday hiked electricity tariffs by an average of 1.44 percent.
