Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has called for a two-day special session of Legislative Assembly starting today to deliberate on the GST and VAT (amendment) bill in the House.

Prior to it, a workshop on GST was organised by the Finance Department on Wednesday for legislators. The law makers were imparted training by the experts and officials of Finance department on the bill.

The legislators of the Opposition bench expressed discontentment as they have not been provided with the copy of bill even as it is going to be introduced in the House during the short session.

Ahead of the session, the parties BJD, BJP and Congress held legislative party meeting yesterday. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has instructed party MLAs to focus on the interest of Odisha during discussion on the bill.
