In his speech, the Governor has mentioned that the State had achieved significant improvement in economy through various fiscal reforms over the past one year.

Praising the State government, Jamir has further stated Odisha's economic growth had jumped from 4.61 per cent in 2012-13 fiscal to 7.94 per cent in the last fiscal.

The Governor has said in the opening speech in the House the Odisha government is ready to take all possible steps to resolve the Mahanadi water row for benefit of the State and its people.

Commenting on the speech delivered by Jamir on the first day of the Budget Session, Opposition leader and Congress legislator Narasingha Mishra stated the Governor's address to the House was totally disappointing given the fact that he did not utter any words on the worsening law and order situation in view of the violence cases during the recently concluded panchayat polls.

He further alleged Jamir did not mention anything regarding farmer issues in Odisha.
