Bhubaneswar: The winter session of the Odisha Assembly was adjourned sine die 16 days ahead of schedule.

The session of the House which had begun on December 1 had 24 working days till the end of its session on December 31. But it was adjourned sine die after only nine working days.

The proposal to abridge the House session was brought by government chief whip Ananta Das which was objected by the Opposition chief whip Tara Bahinipati.

During the session, only four bills were passed in the House while there was a discussion on one issue during adjournment motion brought by the Opposition.

Reacting to the early conclusion of the House session, senior Congress leader and leader of Opposition Narasingh Mishra said the Congress was not unanimous to the proposal of the government chief whip to wind up the session much in advance.

Leader of the BJP Legislature Party KV Singhdeo said his party was against the early closure of the House session.

Refuting the allegation of the Opposition, BJD spokesperson Amar Prasad Satpathy said the decision to adjourn the House sine was taken with the consent of the all members.
