Bhubaneswar: Odisha cabinet today approved a proposal to give cash incentives to doctors who take up postings at the 4 new medical colleges. With four new colleges coming up in Koraput, Baripada, Balasore and Bolangir, the cabinet has decided to provide the incentives based on KBK (Korapur-Bolangir-Kalahandi) region postings and non-KBK region postings.

For professors, associate professors and assistant professors taking postings in KBK region will be given cash incentive worth Rs 1.25 Lakh, Rs 1 Lakh, and Rs 50,000 respectively and Rs 35,000, Rs 25,000 and Rs 15,000 respectively for non-KBK region.

Moreover, the Cabinet today also made changes to the loan repayment period under Kalinga Sikhya Sathi Study Loan by giving a relaxation of 90 days in case of default in paying the first instalment after the moratorium period of 5 years. The students will pay an interest of 1% on the loan amount and the rest will be borne by the State government.

The cabinet also approved the proposal to forego the premium incidental taken by the State government in case of construction of bridges and other infrastructure for the development of railways.
