Kendrapara: The family of Niranjan Malick on Friday expressed its gratitude to Kendrapara MP Baijayant Panda for initiating timely action for the release of their son Munna who was stranded in United Arab Emirates (UAE).
In a video, the family from Srirampur village of Kendrapara district has thanked the Parliamentarian for the help that ensured Munna’s safe return to the country.
Munna had left for Dubai in December last year and was allegedly subjected to torture by the officials of the company that engaged him as a plumber in the gulf country.
“We had completely lost hope as despite lodging complaint before district administration and labour officials, no step was taken by the authorities. However, due to the efforts of the MP, my son has finally returned home,” said Munna’s father, Niranjan Malick.
According to reports, the family has also urged the Parliamentarian to vist their house so that they can thank him for helping them.
Earlier, Kendrapara MP Baijayant Panda had written to High Commissioner of India to UAE, H.E Navdeep Singh Suri in connection with the incicent.
“I was confined to a room and tortured. I am grateful to the MP for helping me in the time of distress,” said Munna.
Meanwhile, Kendrapara MP Baijayant Panda has thanked the High Commissioner and ambassador for responding to the SOS for the Odia youth.

In another incident, the MP has written to Indian embassy for taking immediate steps for the rescue of Dibya Ranjan Behera of Kandhamal district who is also trapped in Dubai.
According to reports, Dibya Ranjan Behera of Khajuripada along with 18 other Indian crew on board ‘Shaker 2’ ship have been detained by United Arab Emirates (UAE) authorities. A report in this connection was also telecast by OTV on March 11.
