Odia labourer alleges torture in Oman; family seeks govt intervention

Bhubaneswar: A labourer from Patrapur village of Kendrapara district has alleged torture by his company officials in Oman. The man has been identified as Ashutosh Dhala.

According to reports, the family of Dhala was not aware of his whereabouts for two months till he sent a voice message and narrated his ordeal to them.

Talking to OTV, Dhala's wife, Pranati said a foreman of the Oman-based company threatened to kill his husband as he could not go to work for eight days due to health issues. Scared, he fled.

"I have no money to bring him back. I request the government to help my husband return from Oman," said Pranati.
