Bhubaneswar: One Odia jawan of Rajgangpur was among the five CRPF troopers who were killed in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district today after guerrillas attacked a CRPF training centre.

The martyred Odia jawan was identified as Pradeep Kumar Panda of Liploi village in Rajgangpur of Sundergarh district. He was working with the 132 battalion of CRPF and had joined the paramilitary force in 2006.

Other martyred CRPF jawans have been identified as Sharief-ud-din Ganaie, Kuldip Roy, Taufail Ahmed and Rajendra Nain.

Heavily-armed militants stealthily entered the camp in Lathpora area about two hours after midnight, hurling grenades and resorting to indiscriminate gunfire.

After barging in, the two militants secured positions in the CRPF camp located on the Srinagar-Jammu highway until they were killed.

The Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Muhammad claimed responsibility for the attack.

Meanwhile, Odisha's Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed condolence over death of the five CRPF jawans.
