Bhubaneswar: Odia hockey star Dipsan Tirkey has set his eyes on glory as he looks to cement his place in the national senior team for the World Hockey League (WHL) Finals scheduled in December in Bhubaneswar.

Speaking exclusively to OTV, Dipsan narrated how he kicked off his career and what his ambitions are ahead of the mega sporting extravaganza. “When I began my career, my dream was to win Junior World Cup which we did, and then I focussed entirely on creating a place in the national senior team. I have already started working in this regard since last year. After playing in two to three selection camps I got a chance to enter the senior team. We played two matches against Belgium, two against Netherlands and one against Austria in the Hero World Tour out of which we lost two and won three,”

“I have developed a sense of confidence from the tour and hope to play in a big international event like WHL finals in my home town,” Dipsan said.

Asked how it feels to see Odias representing in national team, Dipsan said “Sometimes it feels really sad to hardly see any Odia players in national senior team. Take for example Birendra Lakra, who is presently a senior in the team and there are only two juniors Amit Rohidas and me. I am giving cent percent efforts to be selected for the WHL Finals and that would be a proud moment for me.”
