Odia girl Swarnalata all set to conquer Mount Everest

Jajpur: Swarnalata Dalai is certainly an inspiration for hundreds of girls in Odisha as the 20-year-old tribal girl is now aiming to conquer Mount Everest, the highest mountain peak in the world.

Poor economic condition of the family and other odds have not come in the way of Swarnalata who loves to dream big. She is now set for one of the most challenging expedition, 'Mission Everest 2018' of her life.

Swarnalata is the only young mountaineer from the State who will participate in the Mount Everest expedition along with two other mountaineers from the country.

The team will leave from Delhi for Kathmandu on March 27, and then proceed toward the Mount Everest base camp.

"I am very excited that I’m going to be a part of the Mount Everest expedition as I have seen the peak only in Television. It was a dream of my family, especially my sister," said Swarnalata.

It was mountains and heights that fascinated Swaranalata who has nurtured the skills through some excellent performance in the Biju Patnaik Himalayan expedition.

Similarly, she had also participated in Mt. Rudugaira Expedition in 2017.

Swarnalata further informed that scaling other peaks with a weight and gear of over 25 kgs is quite challenging.

"We are proud of Swarnalata as she has been selected in the team to trek Mount Everest. I hope she continues to bring laurels to the district and the State and country," said Swarnalata's uncle.
