Bhubaneswar/Rourkela: Hard work and dedication finally paid off for Manisha Khuntia who excelled in the coveted Indian Economic Service (IES) examination, the result of which was announced today.

Manisha who hails from Rourkela and pursued higher studies in Economics at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, has secured 3rd rank among 15 successful candidates in the examination.

Manisha is a resident of Sector 3 area in the steel city of Odisha and her father, Bijay Khuntia is currently working as a Deputy General Manager (DGM) in Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP).

An alumnus of Carmel School & Ispat English Medium School in Rourkela, Khuntia completed her graduation from Indraprastha College for Women of Delhi University (DU).

“We are really very happy for her success. She is very hardworking and this result is an outcome of her dedication. Her ambition doesn't end here as she wants to become an IAS officer and this success will motivate her more," her father said.

“Manisha is not only a good student but also sings well. However, she gave up singing to crack the UPSC exams," mother Sujata, who is a school teacher in Rourkela, said.

Speaking to OTV, Manisha said, “For IES examination, I had worked hard like any other national level examination. Only because of my parents’ support, I have reached this level. Besides, pro-study environment at JNU motivated me to go for the IES.”

In a message to youngsters Manisha said, “I want to tell the youths of Odisha that they should shed their inhibitions and try hard to achieve their goals.”
