Bhubaneswar: In yet another acclaim for Odia film-maker Nila Madhab Panda, his latest Hindi film Kadvi Hawa (Dark Wind) has won the special mention at the 64th National Film Awards.
Based on true stories on the vagaries of nature, especially the complex issue of climate change, Panda has been successful in portraying its ill-effects on silver screen with great diligence.
The movie is based on true stories from drought prone Bundelkhand and the vanishing villages of coastal Odisha.
“It is one of the important films that deals with climate change which people do not think much about. It is basically a reflection of my life in Odisha which is prone to droughts, cyclone and other natural calamities,” said Nila Madhab.
Nila Madhab further said that the story of the film is about a man from Odisha’s Satbhaya, his journey to Chambal and challenges faced due to climate change.
“It is a prestigious award and through the film I had tried to show the extremities that one is facing due to the climate change. This recognition will help spread the message to more people across the world,” Panda added.
Nila Madhab Panda, who shot to fame with his ‘I Am Kalam’ has been honoured with the prestigious Padma Shri for his movies which are based on social issues.
