Bhubaneswar: City based vet-cum-businessman Manash Ranjan Das who was kidnapped in Jharkhand on August 23 has been rescued on Tuesday.

Bihar police rescued Manash after a period of 40 days of search operations and handed him to Giridihi police station from where he was kidnapped.

Meanwhile, interrogation into the details of his kidnapping has begun.

Speaking to media, Manash’s mother Shakuntala Mishra expressed her heartfelt gratitude. “I thank God and media for helping my cause. I cannot express how happy I am after getting my son back after 40 days,” she said.

Manash Ranjan Das, was abducted along with his two other aides when he was on way to his hometown from Hajipur in Bihar’s Vaishali district, where he also ran a poultry feed processing unit.

The incident came to light when Giridihi police found an abandoned Mercedes car (bearing registration no OR-09P/9999) on GT Road near Kasturba High School, Dumri.

Sources said the businessman was allegedly abducted in connection with extortion.
