Notorious criminal Thesha Kalia nabbed in police encounter in Berhampur

Berhampur: Continuing its crackdown on criminals, police in an encounter today nabbed a dreaded criminal, Keshav Kundu alias Thesha Kalia, a prime accused involved in the cold-blooded murder of one, Kureshu Gouda at a crowded hotel in Digapahandi on October 3.

“Acting on some credible information and request letter of Digapahandi police to keep an eye on the accused in Kureshu’s murder, a special team led by IIC of BN Pur Police station raided their hideout,” SDPO of Town PS Santanu Das said.  

“When police tried to nab them during a chase, prime accused Thesa seated on a motorcycle along with two other accomplices opened fire following which police retaliated,” he said.

Thesa sustained two bullet injuries on his leg and was nabbed while the other two managed to give police a slip. Later Thesa was admitted to MKCG hospital where he is presently undergoing treatment.

All three of them are involved in Kureshu Gouda murder case.

“We have registered a complaint at Gosani Nuagaon PS and have also zeroed in on the other two accused and will nab them very soon,” Das said.

Police have also seized a country-made pistol and three live bullets from Thesa’s possession.

Thesa is a most wanted criminal involved in as many as 15 different cases of murder, attempt to murder, robbery, and extortion.
