Notorious criminal injured in police encounter

Cuttack: Notorious criminal Guru Charan alias Guria was injured in a police encounter at Jagatpur area in Cuttack on Wednesday evening.

As per reports, there are various cases registered against Guria at various police stations.

Acting on a tip off, a joint team of special squad and local police had arrived at the spot to nab Guria in connection with a bomb hurling incident at Jagatpur.

However, Guria tried to escape by hurling a bomb and opening fire at police. In retaliation the cops fired at Guria injuring the dreaded criminal in his leg.

"Jagatpur inspector and special squad had gone to nab Guria alias Guru Charan Patra. We had information about his presence at Bargudia embankment road and when police reached near him, he hurled a bomb and tried to escape from the spot. A 7.65mm mauser and a live bomb has been seized from his possession. He was wanted in 3 bomb hurling cases," said ACP, Special Squad, Pramod Rath.
