Bhubaneswar: A notification for holding elections to three Rajya Sabha seats scheduled on March 23 was issued by Odisha Secretariat on Monday.

As per the notification issued by Returning Officer Rajesh Patil, the last date of filling of nomination is on March 12 while candidates can file their papers between 11 am and 3 pm from today.

The scrutiny will be conducted on March 13 and candidate can give notice of withdrawal by March 15. In case the election is held, it will be conducted on March 23, the notification read.

The election has been necessitated as three seats in Rajya Sabha from Odisha will be lying vacant after the tenure of AU Singhdeo (BJD), Dilip Tirkey (BJD) and AV Swami (Independent) ends on April 2, 2018.

The candidates can collect the form for filing their nomination from Room No 54 of the State Assembly and submit it to Returning Officer or Assistant Returning Officer before March 12.

If the poll is conducted on March 23, the counting of votes will be conducted on the same day and the process will be completed by March 26.
