Bhubaneswar: The prices of many packaged goods have changed after GST was implemented. Yet, many malls have been selling packaged goods at old prices. The Weights and Measures department has conducted raids at several malls in the city today and issued notices to two malls for not tagging new prices on packaged goods.

"We have issued notice to Big Bazaar and Reliance so far for not updating the prices of many packaged goods with an additional tag as directed by the Centre since prices have changed after GST. While price of many goods has reduced, some have become slightly expensive. Stores selling packaged goods have been directed to add a tag of revised price alongside the old printed MRP on goods packed before GST implementation," informed an official of the Weights and Measures department during a raid at a city based store.

Consumers meanwhile are getting confused with the GST prices. "While many products are missing from the market like branded corn flakes, most malls are selling items at the old prices. It is difficult to understand how the GST will impact our domestic budget," said Padmini Sahu, a home maker.
