Norwester wreaks havoc in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: One person was killed and properties were damaged as a Norwester wreaked havoc in some parts of Odisha this evening.

The Norwester this evening caused extensive damage to public properties in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Keonjhar, Kamakhyanagar, Deogarh and Sambalpur.

In Cuttack, a youth was killed when a branch of a tree fell on him in Bidanasi area.

People in the capital city were panicked by the sudden Norwester. Reports said several trees were uprooted resulting in vehicular congestion in busy thoroughfares. Besides, power went out in some parts of the city due to snapping of power lines.

In Sambalpur city, normal life was disrupted as a sand storm accompanied by heavy rains lashed the city late in the afternoon.
