Bhubaneswar: People of Odisha heaved a sigh of relief on Saturday after temperature came down sharply both in interior and coastal districts following rain and thundershowers yesterday.

Officials of Regional Meteorological Department today predicted that Nor'wester rain is likely to occur in several parts of coastal, north and south Odisha in the next 48 hours.

The temperature in coastal areas is expected to drop by at least 4 to 5 degrees till April 5. However, the western parts of the State will continue to reel under intense heat wave conditions, the met department said.

Mercury was above 40 degrees Celsius in six cities with Hirakud recording highest temperature of 41.9 degrees Celsius on Friday.

Meanwhile, a woman was killed in lightning strike at Mohana block in Gajapati district during thunderstorm yesterday.
