Jajpur/Bargarh: At least three persons were killed and two others critically injured in Nor’wester that hit several parts of Odisha on Saturday evening.

In Jajpur district, two persons were killed after they were crushed under a heavy vehicle that was toppled under the impact of strong winds. Two others were also critically hurt during the incident and were admitted to hospital.

Similarly, in Bargarh, one person died after a tree ripped out and fell on him during the thunderstorm at Gandhi chowk.

Incidents of widespread uprooting of trees, electric poles, breakage of power cables were also reported from several parts of the State.

Heavy rains accompanied with gusty winds and lightning lashed Cuttack for nearly an hour.

The nor’wester rain have brought the temperatures at some places down providing much relief to people who were reeling under intense heat wave conditions with mercury hovering above 40 degree Celsius mark.
