Bhubaneswar: Normal life across Odisha came to stand still on Thursday as around 18,000 buses and passenger carrying vehicles stay off road protesting the arrest owner of a bus which met an accident near Manitri of Athmallick in Angul district on September 9 causing death of 19 persons.

According to reports, the private buses across the state will stay off the roads from 6 am on September 29 to 6 am on September 30 as part of the protest against the illegal arrest of the bus owner.

The State truck association has also lent its moral support to the strike called by the private bus owners’ association, the sources added.

The association has also threatened to go for a strike for an indefinite period from October 7 if the owner of the bus is not released immediately.

Notably, the bus owners’ association was demanding immediate release of the owner of the bus which met an accident near Manitri of Athmallick in Angul district on September 9 causing death of 19 persons.
