Kendrapara: Local MLA Kishore Tarai who landed in trouble over allegations of conspiring to deliberately withdraw nominations of two women contesting against his wife for the sarpanch post of Penthapal Pancayat Samiti, said that his wife, who was uncontested on account of dubious nomination withdrawals, will resign after declaration of poll results.
Citing moral grounds, Kishore informed that his wife, Babita Tarai, will resign if she is declared winner following announcement of poll results and said that Babita is prepared to join the fray once again and contest the polls.
“As allegations have been made, on moral grounds, my wife will resign from her post and will contest the elections again” said Kishore.

On the other hand, the opposition parties have intensified their protest against the Kendrapara legislator. While the Congress has demanded resignation of the lawmaker including civil suit against him and the conniving BDO; the BJP has brought allegations of criminal conspiracy against the MLA.
“A civil suit should be filed against whosoever is involved in the case and as the MLA is also involved, he should resign from his post,” said PCC chief, Prasad Harichandan.
“The BDO and the MLA tried to scuttle the democratic process and the district administration was just a mute spectator. Such an attempt has brought the BJD-supremo under suspicion,” said General Secretary of Odisha BJP, Prithwiraj Harichandan.
Notably, the whole incident raised suspicion over the Pattamundai BDO’s conduct after the signatures of concerned candidates were not taken following withdrawal of nominations. Moreover, on receipt of nomination withdrawal, no acknowledgement letter was found on the prescribed Form-10 was given to the concerned candidates. The BDO has also been unable to provide the video footage of the time of nomination withdrawal by the concerned candidates, despite CCTV being installed in office.
