Cuttack: To prevent any untoward incident in Barabati stadium like the bottle throwing incident during the India-South Africa T20 on October 5, the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) has decided not to allow water bottles and water pouches inside the Stadium during the upcoming one-day international (ODI) match between India and England in January.

Moreover, the OCA has decided to beef up security in the stadium and Close Circuit Television Cameras (CCTV) will be installed in the gallery, informed OCA secretary Asirbad Behera after a security review meeting involving Commissionerate police, OCA and members of the England Cricket Board (ECB).

“Barabati will host the seond One-day match between India and England on January 19. In this regard OCA held a meeting with the three-member team of accommodation and security representing England. Moreover, a meeting with the Commissionerate police and officials of the Home department was also convened in which the English side was assured of fool proof security. Keeping in mind the instances of the past, this time we have decided to reduce number the seats in the gallery section to prevent unauthorized persons from entering the area. Moreover, as informed earlier, we will not allow water bottles inside the stadium and will make adequate arrangements for drinking water within the stadium. Moreover, earlier we had CCTV cameras outside the stadium. But from this time, we will install the same within the gallery” said Behera.
