Bhubaneswar: Under scanner over alleged discrepancies in publication of Class XII results in Odisha, the CBSE on Monday categorically denied to undertake further re-evaluation of answer copies.

The decision has not gone well with the students and parents association as nearly 400 students today filed a mass petition in the Orissa High Court alleging irregularities in the re-evaluation process undertaken by CBSE.

“CBSE authorities are playing with our emotions. We are staging a demonstration as we sure that we have written well in the examination,” said Gargi Vaishnavi Rout, a CBSE class XII student.

CBSE officials, on the other hand, claimed that the board had re-evaluated the answer sheets of 18 students following directions from Orissa High Court while there is no provision for re-evaluation as it earlier was scrapped from this academic session.

At a press conference held today, the CBSE officials informed that a review petition in this regard has also been filed in this regard in High Court.

Nearly 9,000 students from the State have applied for rechecking so far and the results would be made available in a phased manner, CBSE officials said.

“If the students and their parents want to move court they are free to do so. But the marks of students cannot be increased under any pressure,” said CBSE chairman (academics) Manoj Srivastav.

Amidst the controversy over the discrepancies in publication of results, a girl student attempted suicide in Bhubaneswar.

“The marks of few students have increased after re-evaluation which clearly shows that evaluation process was faulty,” said  Convener Parents Association Sudarshan Das.
