Bhubaneswar: In a huge relief to electricity consumers in Odisha, Energy minister Pranab Prakash Das on Wednesday said there would be no power cuts in the State till June 30.

After a meeting on power management in the State, the Energy minister said around 3300 -4000 megawatt is being generated at present though the State needs 4100 megawatt of power during peak hours.. Moreover, 50-60 megawatt is being brought through power banking from Delhi and Punjab, said the minster.

According to sources, the reservoirs in the state are having water for the next 15 days. While in Balimela, the water level is at 30 feet, in Kolab around 3 metre water is in reserve.

The next decision on power cuts will be taken after a review meeting on May 30, the Energy minister said.
