Bhubaneswar: Most parts of Odisha are under intense cold wave with mercury dipping below 10 degree Celsius in 12 places as per a local Met office release this evening.

While Phulbani recorded the lowest temperature at 6 degree Celsius, temperature went below 10 degree Celsius in Dhenkanal (9.1), Daringbadi (8), Koraput (8.4), Koraput (9.7), Hirakud (7.5), Sundargarh (7.5), Sambalpur (8.2), Keonjhar (7.7), Jharusuguda (8.4), Baripada (9) and Angul (6.6).

Besides, temperature remained below 15 degree Celsius in Balasore (10.1), Chandbali (11.8), Cuttack (11), Paradip (13.2), Bhubaneswar (11.6), Gopalpur (14.5), Puri (14.5), Talcher (13.8), Titlagarh (10), Malkangiri (12.2) and Sonepur (10).

“The sharp fall in night temperature is due to blowing of northerly wind from Himalayan region across the state,” the release said, adding that the cold wave would prevail till next 48 hours with no significant change in the weather condition till January 21.
