Puri: The Daitapati Nijog of Shri Jagannath temple today made it clear that there would be no change in rules on the darshan of the Lords at the Snana Mandap (bathing altar) during Snana Yatra scheduled on June 20.

“We have decided in principle that there would be no change in rules relating to the darshan of the Trinity at the Snana Mandap during Snana Yatra. We have been allowing allowed the devotees to have the darshan of the Lords and touch them. We will also continue this tradition this year. We have decided to apprise the chief administrator of Shri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) of our decision in this regard tomorrow,” Binayak Dasmahapatra, treasurer of the Daitapati Nijog, told media persons here.
.
He said some major decisions have been taken at the temple coordination committee meeting which was held yesterday. Besides, some major issues relating to the darshan of the Lords by the devotees on the chariots and entry of the devotees inside the Jagmohan after removal of scaffolding have been discussed at the meeting.

“We will take up these issues with the chief administrator of Shri Jagannath Temple Administration in a meeting tomorrow,” Dasmahapatra said.

Asked about the steps the temple administration would take during Snana Yatra, SJTA chief administrator Suresh Chandra Mahapatra said there will be no change in the arrangements made by the temple administrator last year.

“We will make similar arrangements this year by putting up barricades at the Snana Mandap so that the devotees can have the smooth darshan of the Lords,” he pointed out.
