Cuttack: The High Court of Orissa has ruled that no action will be taken against the teachers who have failed in Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test (OTET), till further orders.

Last month, the State government had ordered district education officers to take action against the teachers who had failed to clear OTET. Several petitions were filed in the High Court challenging such action by the State government.

The OTET is a mandatory examination, which has to be taken by all the B.Ed candidates who wish to teach in the government run schools as well as in the schools run by private managements in Odisha.

Earlier, the High Court had ordered recruitment of teachers ahead of the conducting the test. As per the order around 17,000 teachers were appointed. However, only 7000 teachers were able to clear the OTET, which was conducted later.
