Bhubaneswar: The Centre is mulling to establish three coastal economic zones (CEZs) across the country including one in Odisha which will come up in the combined area of the Paradip and Dhamra ports.

In this regard Niti Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant along with his team met the State government officials at the State Secretariat here today.

Talking to media persons after a meeting with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik this evening, Kant said, “We are impressed with the infrastructure at Dhamra and Paradip ports and the State has huge potential for investments. There is no other State in the country except Odisha where two ports are located not very far from each other.”

He added the CEZ will be set up under the Sagarmala Project.

Earlier in the day, Kant and his team visited the site after holding talks with the Odisha government officials at the State Secretariat here.

On Kant’s visit, Development Commissioner R Balakrishnan, who was also present in the meeting, stated, “Land acquisition for the proposed CEZ project was also discussed in the Secretariat meeting.”
