Bhubaneswar: While the National Institute of Science Education and Research (Niser) here has increased its seat intake by 40 taking the total number of seats to 170 from 130 for the current academic sessions, results of the National Entrance Screening Test (NEST) for admission into the premiere institution have been declared today.

Out of the 68 thousand students who appeared in the exam, 2518 students successfully cleared the entrance test.

Three students from Odisha have brought laurels for the State by securing positions in the top 20 list. While, Arsiman Panigrahi is ranked 10th, Ashutosh Dash and Gurukalyan Jaysingh have managed to secure 14th and 17th positions respectively.

Shiv Kumar of Benaras, has topped the NEST.

Counselling for admission into five-year M.Sc Programme at Niser, Bhubaneswar will begin from July 4.

Earlier in 2016, Niser had increased its intake capacity from 100 to 130.
