Nimapara: Four police personnel were injured in a clash with women activists of Odisha BJP, who were attempting to gherao the CDPO’s office in Nimapara of Puri district.

According to sources, policewomen were deployed at the CDPO’s office on account of the demonstration of by the activists. However, policemen had to intervene as the activists tried to barge into the office leading to a violent scuffle.

The gherao was being led by BJP Mahila Morcha president Pravati Parida. While police have alleged that they were attacked by the activists, Pravati Parida said that it was the police who misbehaved with the party workers first.

The party members also staged a dharna following the arrest of three BJP workers, including two women, after the incident.

“We had informed the CDPO and the police administration that we will come today. I condemn the manner in which male police personnel stopped the members of Mahila Morcha,” said Pravati Parida.

“We had deployed police women along with two sections of force and four police officers. However, the protesters numbering over a hundred became uncontrollable. Four police personnel have been injured in the incident and required action will be taken,” said Nimapara IIC Niranjan Padhi.
