Cuttack: Less than a week after servitors Kashinath Khuntia and Damodar Mahasuara got relief from court in Niladri Bije row, another servitor Jayakrushna Mahasuar allegedly involved in the scuffle between sevayats and journalists during the ritual, was granted a stay on the non-bailable warrant (NBW) and proclamation proceedings against him from Orissa High Court till November 7.

Moreover, the court ordered Jayakrushna to submit an undertaking before the Puri Collector to refrain from such activities by November 5.

Emphasizing on the need to resolve the matter through mutual understanding, the Court has ordered the public prosecutor to hold discussion with the Collector.

“The court ordered that if the petitioner submits an undertaking to the Collector by November 5 mentioning to refrain from any such indiscipline in future. Moreover, the government advocate was issued instruction to discuss with the Collector regarding a mutual settlement. The next hearing of the matter has been scheduled for November 7,” said Subrat Nayak, lawyer of Jayakrushna.

Notably, Jayakrushna Mahasuara, Kashinath Khuntia, Damodar Mahasuara, Saina Khuntia, Bhimsen Palankadhari, Ipsit Pratihari, Rabi Dash and Bhagirathi Khuntia, who are accused of heckling the Collector during the annual rituals, were declared as absconders by police on July 27 and were on the run.
