Cuttack: The legend of the mysterious animal that had killed over thousand sheep across Odisha has returned to haunt the State again. And it has started its killing spree from the same place where it had all begun, Niali in Cuttack district, by killing three sheep and injuring two.

As per reports, three sheep of Govardhan Swain in Gobindapada village were killed by the mysterious animal. The animal also injured one of his sheep and another of Pabani Behera of Dihabansahi.

The mysterious animal had stopped killing sheep because of the standing water in paddy fields in the region as it was making their movement difficult. But now, with the harvest of paddy, the killing spree has begun again, allege villagers.

Fear has gripped people after the fresh sheep deaths as the mysterious animal had done much damage earlier this year by unleashing terror in Niali and killing over 250 sheep.

Not only Niali, similar incidents of sheep deaths were also reported from Bhanjanagar, Jagatsinghpur, Kalahandi, Nuapada and Kendrapara districts during that period.

Morevoer, the ‘killer’ had remained elusive despite massive operation launched by the forest department at Niali and even a special team from Similipal failed to trace and catch the wild animal.
