Bhubaneswar: While the killing of sheep at Niali in Cuttack district continues with the death of one more sheep, another such incident has been reported at Alipingala in Jagatsinghpur district where nine sheep were killed on Thursday.

The incident has sent shockwaves in Jagatsinghpur as Niali fear continues unabated with fresh sheep deaths being reported every day.

Last night one sheep was killed and two other injured in an attack by the animal in Bilasuni village under Niali block despite efforts by the forest officials to track the ‘mysterious animal’ killing the sheep.

A special team from Similipal National Park (SNP), equipped with tranquiliser guns and drone cameras, is at Niali to trap the predator but the killer is still at large.

Meanwhile, the Jagatsinghpur district administration is yet to respond on the sheep deaths.

Earlier, the visual of a ‘mysterious animal’ was captured for the first time by OTV on June 30.

The visual of the two suspected animals resembling a fox and a jackal were captured during an intense search operation that was launched by the forest officials near Khalit village in Niali.
