Cuttack: Even as the Forest officials have intensified ‘vigil’ in several areas in Niali, the ‘mysterious animal’ reportedly killed one more sheep at Pokharigaon area last night.

The fresh killing has once again come as a major setback for the forest department as the locals have now demanded for urgent measures to trap the animal that is now on the prowl in the area.

Meanwhile, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday said that the issue of mysterious animal and sheep deaths is being seriously taken up by forest department.

Villagers are in panic as they apprehend the animal could also target children and are worried for their security.

Meanwhile, the visuals of a ‘mysterious animal’ was captured for the first time by OTV here on Friday.

The visual of the two suspected animals resembling a fox and a jackal were captured during an intense search operation that was launched by the Forest officials near Khalit village in the evening yesterday.

According to forest department officials, over 45 sheep have been killed either by a pack of wolves or hyenas in Niali and adjoining areas between April 1 and June 30.
