NFSA ration cards lying abandoned on roadside in Dhenkanal

Dhenkanal: More than 200 NFSA ration cards issued in the names of beneficiaries of Kenojhar district were found lying unattended on roadside near the mini stadium in Dhenkanal on Sunday.

After locals traced the ration cards, some BJP leaders of Dhenkanal gathered the important documents lying scattered.

BJP leader Ramchandra Patra said, “Some women were sent to jail and some paid fine because of the NFSA ration card creating an unpleasant situation in the State. Undoubtedly hundreds of fake ration cards were prepared in Keonjhar district and other places as well. Therefore, we demand for a CBI probe in ration card irregularities.”

When asked about the recovery of ration cards in Dhenkanal, Sub collector Abani Patnaik said, “So far the district administration has not received any information regarding this. Further action such as an inquiry or verification of the authenticity of the ration cards will be undertaken only after getting the information. Till yet neither police nor any person has lodged any complaint.”
