Kendrapara: Baby swapping at hospitals has once again resurfaced in Odisha as a family from Kendrapara district today lodged a complaint alleging that their newborn boy was exchanged with a girl in the labour room of the district headquarters hospital.

Complainant Prabhati Mohapatra of Badabetra village under Gadarpur block in Kendrapara alleged that the hospital authorities did

not hand over her baby after birth and after more than 30 minutes she was able to see her baby.

"As there was one more woman with labour present in the room, I suspect my baby has been swapped or else I would have been handed over my baby sooner," said Prabhati.

"We want a DNA test of the baby to know the truth. We don't believe the hospital staff as they failed to hand over the baby to us soon after the birth," said a relative of Prabhati, Gitanjali Mohanty.
