Newborn girl found abandoned in temple

Balasore: A new born girl was found abandoned from a temple near Gopinathpur Chhak under Soro police limits of the district here on Sunday.

According to sources, the girl was found wrapped in a blanket inside a bag, which was placed inside the temple. On hearing the cries, few locals spotted the bag and rescued the baby.

The girl was immediately admitted to the Soro Community Health Centre (CHC) and was later shifted to Balasore hospital as her condition deteriorated.

The villagers alleged that the new born was left abandoned by her acquaintance on Saturday night as her family did not want a girl child.
