Sambalpur: In an unfortunate incident, body of a newborn baby boy was found dumped inside the lavatory of Puri -Hatia Tapaswini Express at the station here today.

Alerted by the station superintendent, GRP officials swung into action and recovered the body. "After the train stationed, we recovered body through the window of the toilet. The railway doctor examined it and declared dead. The body has been seized and will be sent to Burla for post-mortem", said Niranjan Das, GRP ASI.

The place where the body was dumped has not yet been ascertained. Investigation is on, he added.

The passengers traced the body and informed the railway staff in service in the moving train. Later, the commercial controller alerted the station authorities about the incident.

"We received a call from commercial controller at around 3.30 am that body a newborn is lying inside the toilet of S-1 coach of Tapaswini Express. We immediately alerted the GRP and the railway doctor", Sambalpur station superintendent Chitaranjan Dalai said, terming the incident as most unfortunate.
