Newborn baby boy found abandoned in bush

Kamakhyanagar: A newborn baby boy was found abandoned amid a bush near Kantapala village here under Kankadahada police station in Dhenkanal district in the wee hours of Monday.

The baby, presumably a day or two old, was spotted inside the bush after his wails were heard by one Mangala Dehury of the village. The infant was admitted to Kamakhyanagar sub-divisional hospital.

"I heard the wails of the baby from within the bush when I was passing by. I picked up the baby and informed our Sarpanch who called the ambulance," Dehury said.

Dehury is also taking care of the baby at the hospital. The condition of the newborn is stable, he added.
