New start-up policy to get Cabinet nod today

Bhubaneswar: Four proposals, including the Odisha Start-up Policy- 2016, are likely to be approved at the cabinet meeting scheduled to take place at the Secretariat here today, officials said.

The policy would seek to promote entrepreneurship in the state through provision of incentives to start-up ventures. The policy would chart a roadmap to place Odisha among the top three investment destinations in the country by 2020.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik would unveil the new start-up policy at the investors’ meet to be held in Bangalore on August 26.

The cabinet meeting, it is reliably learnt, would also discuss the GST Bill passed in the Parliament during the recently concluded monsoon session. The Bill needs to be ratified by at least 50 per cent of State legislatures to become an Act in the country. In this context, the State Government is likely to give its approval to the Bill after having a detailed discussion on it.

Projects worth Rs 452 crore for supply of drinking water to 54 villages in close to Berhampur city may also get the approval of the Cabinet at its meeting today. The projects require Cabinet nod as the estimated cost of the work is more than Rs 100 crore.
