Bhubaneswar: Kendrapara MP Baijayant Panda who was at the Indian Ocean Conference in Colombo, Sri Lanka stressed on a new role emerging for India in the renewal of relationship with South East Asian countries.

Talking to media at the conference, Panda said, “The relationship which India and Odisha shared with the countries of the Indian Ocean region and South East Asia was disrupted over time. However, the relationship is now renewing itself and a new positive role of India is emerging."

Panda was one of the speakers at the 2-day Indian Ocean Conference wherein top government officials of participating countries discussed a wide range of topics including commerce, economy and environment.

The Indian Ocean Conference has been jointly organised by the India Foundation, the S Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS), Singapore, and the National Institute of Fundamental Studies (NIFS) in Colombo.
