Bhubaneswar: With Odias across the State celebrating Maha Bisuba Sankranti popularly known as "Pana" Sankranti, the day marked the beginning of an Odia new year.

On this auspicious occasion, special rituals were performed at Sri Jagannath Temple (Srimandir) in Puri with recitation of the new Odia almanac (Panji) before the Holy trinity.

As per experts, on this day, the Sun enters the sidereal Aries (Mesha rashi) and begins its year-long trip across all the 12 zodiac signs.

Speaking on the predictions made in the new almanac, astrologist Naresh Dash, said "Overall, this year will have stable governance despite some misunderstandings. The government will give importance to health and education. Agriculture will also bear good produce but chances of natural calamities like flood and cyclones cannot be ruled out."
